About Build & Bloom™ Kids

Hi, I'm Joan.

I'm in this photo with my husband, Michael. I became a mum at twenty when I had twin girls. Less than a year later, our son arrived, and over the years two more daughters joined our family.

With three children so close in age, our eldest always had someone to play with. They built cubbies, invented games, argued, laughed and largely entertained each other.

Years later, when Aimee (our 4th child) was at home while the older children were at school, I discovered something unexpected.

One child can be harder than three.

Not because they're difficult, but because they naturally look to you for company, ideas and attention.

That's when I truly appreciated the value of toys that children can become completely absorbed in.

The kind that spark imagination, encourage problem-solving and keep little hands and minds busy creating.

That's why I created Build & Bloom Kids.

To help children discover the joy of independent play — and to give parents a little breathing space to get on with the thousand other things that need doing. 

 That's also why we have created the Free Build Ideas page, and the Challenge Packs to keep kids building longer!
